Waze is specifically designed for in-car street navigation. You will not get transit results like this Google Maps to offer while navigating on foot.

Using Waze to navigate

After downloading the Waze app, you need to give it permission to access your phone’s location via GPS. Say yes to the terms and conditions and you are good to navigate. Accurate maps are created by millions of users who actively and passively contribute countless data points. As Waze tracks you down the road, the app automatically judges whether a road is clear or busy based on your car’s speed.

If you are moving slowly and some other users are also slow in the same place on a similar road, a traffic jam is estimated. The app distills all of this into usable traffic data that you can see on screen. Road closures due to extensive construction work are displayed accurately and in a timely manner.

As you drive, Waze will notify you via pop-ups about incidents on the road ahead. Slow traffic, incidents and accidents, as well as police presence and speed cameras are among the possible triggers for notifications. Waze also occasionally shows pop-up ads for nearby businesses as soon as you stop at a red light or park your car.

Once in driving mode, you can use voice to control the app to stay hands-free and safe. This voice input uses your phone’s native voice input system, e.g. B.
