This article gives instructions for Staff and PGRs to install Adobe Acrobat Pro DC on their personal devices.  If you require Adobe Acrobat Pro on a UoS device, please refer to this guidance.

Open the webpage https://adobe.com/uk and then click the “Sign In” button:

Sign in with the short version of your university login credentials (e.g. abc12u12@soton.ac.uk not A.Customer@soton.ac.uk). If prompted, choose a “Company or School Account”.  If you are unable to log into the Adobe portal, please contact Serviceline:

You will then be automatically redirected from Adobe to the University’s external authentication portal.  This may involve a second redirection:

Installing Acrobat Pro DC

Installation of Acrobat Pro DC is very straightforward but does involve re-authenticating to adobe.com to prove that you have a licence to run the software (this is a new licencing condition imposed by Adobe on their 2019 suite of applications). You will also be required to periodically re-authenticate when using the product (to confirm that your eligibility status hasn’t changed)

macOS:

Locate the downloaded dmg file probably in your “Downloads” folder - and double-click to mount it, then run the installer (you will be warned that the installer has been downloaded from the internet. If you downloaded it yourself from adobe.com it is safe to continue. If not, please follow the instructions at the top of this document):

The Acrobat Pro DC Installer will require you to log into the adobe.com website to verify your eligibility for a licence.  If you have recently logged in (e.g. to download the installer) this shouldn’t prompt you to login again. Otherwise, you’ll need to repeat the authentication steps detailed above:

Once your eligibility has been verified, click “Continue” to start the installation.  You’ll be kept updated on progress by an information screen:

Once Acrobat Pro DC has been successfully installed, you’ll get an “Installation is Complete” notification:

Windows:

Locate and run the downloaded Adobe_DC_Set-up.exe, and double-click to run it:
